A resounding victory in Mátyásföld! Sportországi Cápák vs UNI GYŐR ETO 1–9

After a longer break, our team had another away match in the Andersen League; this time, we took to the ice as guests of the Sportországi Cápák at the Mátyásföldi Ice Rink.

It took just four minutes from the first face-off for our team captain, Matyi Odnoga, to score the match’s first goal, putting us in the lead. Although our team suffered a number of penalties in the first period, Martin Sipák and Márk Koczkás both found the back of the home net, meaning we ended the first 20 minutes with a 3-goal lead. (0–3)

A goal was scored again halfway through the second period when Márk Almási scored his second. However, with barely a minute remaining, the home side’s foreign player, Berthaud, found the back of Szeles’s net, but fortunately neither the goal nor the half-time break broke our team’s momentum. (1–5)

In the final period, our young goalkeeper, Ákos Mészáros, defended the net with an outstanding performance. It took seven minutes for ETO to score again, with Richárd Horváth finding the net, and two minutes later our young talent, Norbert Lévai, also scored.

As the match drew to a close, the atmosphere intensified and the physical nature of the game became more apparent, resulting in a number of send-offs.

Matyi Odnoga managed to extend our lead by two goals even in the final five minutes, meaning that in this match our team captain can count not only three goals but also three assists to his name.

We saw a superb performance from everyone on the ice, as evidenced by the 9–1 away win.
