The Andersen League got off to a goal-fest start.

Machine-translated from Hungarian.

On Saturday evening, the Andersen League season also got underway for us; we hosted the Sportországi Cápák team at the Győr Ice Sports Centre.

We started the match confidently and were quickly able to put our opponents under pressure, but we had to wait five minutes for the first goal, which was scored by our player-coach, Mátyás Odnoga. From then on, there was no stopping us, and we managed to entertain the spectators with some superb goals. Majoross made his mark with his first goal whilst still in the first period, and Jábor began his magnificent run with two goals.

By the second period, it was already clear that our team would dominate the entire match, but we had to wait a while for the first goal here too; it was our young newcomer Sebestyén Csata who scored his first goal in the league. After that, Rusznyák’s net didn’t get much of a ‘rest’; we managed to put the puck past the goal line a further six times. After our 10th goal (Richárd Horváth), the clock switched to ‘running time’, meaning the clock continued to run even during stoppages in play.

The final period continued the run that had begun in the previous periods with three goals, but the visitors were this time able to capitalise on their only power play of the period and, thanks to András Hunor, score their consolation goal.

The lads put in a brilliant performance; they need to bring that precise, decisive play onto the pitch, regardless of who they’re up against.

We won’t be getting bored in week 9: on Tuesday (9 October) we have the Hungarian Cup return leg against Lehel HC; on Thursday (12 September) we have an away EUHL match against UMB; and on Saturday (14 September) we’ll be hosting newcomers Vasas in the Andersen League.
